12 Days of Christmas: Joy to the World

Joy to the World

I think a joyful heart goes hand in hand with hope. Finding joy, even in the small things, and especially when things are tough is essential. Maybe you find joy in an activity such as running, reading or crafting. Or perhaps you find joy in spending time with your family and friends, going out to dinner or cooking. Whatever brings you joy, my hope is that you take time to do or experience it today and all through the coming year.

Beginning now and into the new year, you can bring joy to the world.

12 Days of Christmas: The Grinch

12 Days of Christmas: The Grinch

Now, I know the Grinch might not seem like a hopeful character, but for those of you who have read the Dr. Seuss tale or watched the movie, you know that in the end he finds heart. I think this quote really hits home for me. So often we get caught up in the material aspects of the holidays and get bogged down with the pressure to spend, spend, spend.

Rather this year, in addition to whatever gifts you might exchange, I hope you take a moment to spend your time not just money. Visit with a friend, volunteer to help those less fortunate, be truly present with your family members, just to name a few. Give them yourself instead. Learn from our friend the Grinch!

12 Days of Christmas

This holiday season, I wanted to share with you some of the things that inspire me. I like to take this time of year to reflect on the many blessings in my life, especially my family, friends and faith. I invite you to join me in this reflection. From now until Christmas Day, I’ll be sharing posts on this blog and social media that are all about what the season means to me.

Happy Holidays!

St. Louis Magazine and Town & Style

In case you missed it, I’m thrilled to share that I was recently featured in both St. Louis Magazine and Town & Style. Thank you to reporter Christy Marshall with St. Louis Magazine on her reporting style, it was great working with her. You can read the full article online, here, and it was in print in the November Women’s Health 2014 special section.

Town & Style had a recap and photo from the Powered by Hope book signing event at Neiman Marcus. It was a great event, and I felt the crowd had a strong, supportive energy. You can read the full Town & Style Dec. 3 issue online or pick up a print copy.

You may have also seen that Siteman Cancer Center recently launched an ad campaign (including an ad in Town & Style), where they have featured my story. If you have a moment, please watch the video that they produced as part of the campaign.

I want to take a moment to wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving! I have much to be grateful for this year including the support I receive from each of you. This Thanksgiving I invite you to join me in taking a moment between the food and football, to thank the people you care about and reflect on your blessings.
