New York City Marathon Recap

This past Sunday I raced in the New York City Marathon in support of Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation. It was an awesome event and I’m so grateful that I had the chance to run with my friends, Renee, Anne and Amanda. To get into the festive spirit, we sported our CCCF shirts and bright orange tutus (blue and orange are the CCCF’s colors) – it was such a blast. We stopped several times along the course to say hello to friends and family who came to cheer us on, to take photos and even have some cookies.

Before the race, I had a chance to meet Mary Wittenberg, the President and CEO of New York Road Runners. It was exciting to meet her, and she was delightful.

I had a fantastic time, and can’t wait to for the next race! Visit my Facebook page to see some photo favorites from the Big Apple.

Neiman Marcus Powered by Hope Event

You’re invited! On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Neiman Marcus in St. Louis will host a Powered by Hope book signing event. Please join me for an evening of mingling and light refreshments, plus I’ll have signed copies of my book. Special to the event, you can purchase an exclusive Powered by Hope eye shadow from Chantecaille and all purchasers will receive a free lip gloss. How fantastic is that? The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. on the main level in the Cosmetics Department.

In case you missed it, we had an ad for the event in the recent Town & Style issue, you can read the latest edition, here. If you can, please RSVP for the event by contacting or 314-994-5053, or visit the event page.

Hope to see you there!

New York City Marathon

This weekend I’m traveling to New York for the New York City Marathon! The marathon organizers are expecting a huge turnout, and last year there were more than 50,000 race participants. I have been in the NYC Marathon before, but new for me this year will be racing in support of the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation. You can help support the cause, by visiting our team page on Crowdrise, here.

As background, Dr. Thomas K. Weber started the Foundation in 2008 with its mission to reduce colorectal cancer incidence and death through supporting research, increasing public awareness, educating the public and partnering with strategic partners in the fight against colorectal cancer. The Foundation continues to grow in its public outreach efforts with its participation in this year’s ING Marathon Charity Runner program.

Also, I’m planning on racing with two friends, Renee and Ann, which should make it all the more memorable. I’ll be sure to write a blog post about my experience with photos from NYC. In the meantime, you can follow along on Twitter or Facebook.

Great Day St. Louis Powered by Hope

Yesterday I was a guest on KMOV’s Great Day St. Louis and had a chance to talk about my book and newly launched foundation, Powered by Hope. You can watch the clip on the Great Day St. Louis website, or check it out below.

It was so great to be featured on the show once again – thank you to Virginia and Kent for having me as a guest!
